Get To Know Me: Q&A Style
Hello internet friends! Even though I plan all of my blog posts out roughly a month in advance to stay on top of my schedule, I thought it would be fun to add in a bonus post with a little Q&A I asked over on my Instagram! Literally any question was open for grabs, it could have been advice, a silly little question, or something that people wanted to know. So, let's get to some asking and answering.
"What has been your biggest take away after graduating and entering the 'real' world?"
For those of you who don't know, I graduated in December 2019 from The University of Akron right before COVID hit and everyone's lives turned to chaos. So, my greatest take away hasn't fully settled in until recently. Truthfully, nobody prepares you for entering the real world. They try to, but they don't. Like we are students for most of our lives and then thrown into having to work full time. The biggest takeaway after this hard reality from post grad is that, no how much you think you prepare yourself for the post grad life - you really aren't prepared.
"What's your favorite self care activity or wind down?"
I love questions like these. I love being asked this but I also love hearing other people give their own answers. We all have different methods of winding down and self care routines. For me personally, my self care activities range. Sometimes mediating can help calm me down, sometimes it's journaling, sometimes it's a face mask, and sometimes it's going to either Target or Barnes and Noble and diving into retail therapy. It really depends on how I'm feeling and what I'm up for. Lately, it's been reading. I've been reading as much as I can lately and it really calms me down.
"What do you do for your full time job?"
I work full time as a mortgage loan processor for Liberty Home Mortgage. I started working for this company in January of 2020, just a little over a month after graduation. I am very thankful to work for such an amazing company as they have been nothing but supportive during this past year with the pandemic. I learn something new every day and it has truly helped me with that transition from post grad.
"Do you want to make blogging and your side business a full time career?"
I've been asked this before and I've never really thought about it. As of right now, I do this just for fun and get a few active viewers here and there. I have a small list of subscribers who are so freaking supportive, I am so grateful. But I don't think I could make this a full time career. I am just kind of having fun with it and exploring my creativity, exploring my voice and my platforms, and just exploring who I am. No matter what, I do want to continue growing my blog!
"Do you have a dream job?"
Ideally, my dream job is being my own boss. A boss of what? I don't know. I want to grow my blog, I want to grow my event planning business, I want to write a book, I want to bring back podcasting, sometimes I want to start a YouTube channel, and sometimes I really want to open my own boutique up with books and clothes. I don't want to be tied down to one thing because there are so many different things we can do with our lives and so many different things to explore! Eventually, being my own boss is my dream job.
This is a tough one... I have read a handful of books recently and have so many on my to read list. For nonfiction, the best book I have read is The Defining Decade. A book about your 20's and how this decade is crucial in setting yourself up for success. As for fiction, I think my favorite book as of right now is either One Day In December or Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. Both completely different genres, one romance and the other fantasy, but both were so so good.
I typically only put YouTube on the background when I am cleaning, cooking, or getting ready for the day. Some of the YouTubers I like to watch are; Brooke Miccio, Katy Bellotte, Jaci Marie, Ashley Nichole, Kenzie Elizabeth, Aspyn Ovard, Kelsey Simone, Lauren Elizabeth, Claudia Sulewski, Samantha Feher, Keaton Milburn, and KOZE. A mix of lifestyle, fashion, and beauty. I typically watch all of Brooke Miccio and Jaci Marie's videos over the other content creators I mentioned, I neve miss their videos!
I am on a huge podcast kick right now. I've been listening to Crime Junkie (nothing new there), That's What We Said, Daily Toast, A Little Bit Unfiltered, and occasionally (if I've read the book they're covering) The Readheads Book Club!
"Do you miss college?"
Okay, this is a loaded question... So, I've been very nostalgic lately as I think about freshman and sophomore year specifically. When photo and video memories pop up, I miss having fun in college and I actually miss learning and taking college courses. There are very specific things I miss but overall, living my life post grad has been fun all on it's own. College taught me a lot about school, life, and myself. Maybe one day I'll go back to school!
"Are you fully vegan?"
I am not fully vegan but I am a vegetarian. I would love to switch to a completely plant based diet but am having a hard time cutting out cheese. Which sounds so silly but it is very hard to find good alternatives for it and hard to cut out. Last year and this year, I have put on my resolutions list to make that switch to a plant based diet. If I'm out at restaurant and vegan friendly meals are available, I will order vegan friendly food. I would like to be able to eat mostly vegan friendly this year!
"How's the cat mom life treating you?"
I freaking love this question. So, if you don't know by my oh so many posts, I adopted a cat this year! It was been quite the journey that past three months. From finding out about his heart murmur/enlarged heart, to finding out he is actually a senior cat, to him finally being comfortable around us - I have loved every minute of him being in my life. He loves to cuddle at night and loves to follow me everywhere! I am obsessed with him.
And that's a wrap on my first ever Q&A! Thank you to everyone who submitted a question!! This was a fun filler post that is a few weeks overdue. I have some amazing posts lined up and can't wait to share them with you all.
